Charlie Zachry has been associated with the telecommunications industry over 40 years working for South Central Bell, Sprint Corporation and the U.S. Army Signal Corp.
Since establishment of Zachry & Associates in 1993, he has specialized in the management of wireless network designs, primarily fixed network and in their deployment. This has included designs, ordering and implementation for Aerial Communications (now part of T-Mobile), TeleCorp (now part of AT&T Wireless), Triton PCS, Clearnet of Canada, Verizon Wireless, Nextel, Nextel Partners and Leap Wireless (Cricket Communications).
In 1994, he assisted in the design of a WAN network used by the public school systems in the State of Tennessee for internet access. In 1996, he developed an RFP for provision of a phone system to serve prisons in the State of Tennessee.
While with Sprint Corporation, he designed and implemented a 23 node satellite network in the early 80's - the first network used by the company. In the Headquarters organization, he has served as Director of Product Development with responsibility for rollout of 80+ new products and enhancements and as Director of Special Customer Arrangements where he assisted in the generation of better than $400M in new revenue annually.
At South Central Bell, he designed and implemented such company-wide operator services mechanization projects as Directory Assistance Charging, Automatic Intercept System (AIS), Directory Assistance System /Computer (DAS/C) and Traf fic Service Position Systems (TSPS).
He retired in 1992 as a Lieutenant Colonel with the U.S. Army Signal Corp after serving 28 years in various reserve teaching capacities with the U.S. Army Signal School at Fort Gordon, Georgia.
He has an MBA from the University of Alabama in Birmingham (1976) and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Tech (1964). He has also been a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Alabama since 1974.
